I love split squad days. Everybody plays, especially the kids get extended looks. Lots going on today:
Giants clobbered the D'Backs 12-6. Some key lines:
Buster Posey- 1 for 2. Buster gets his first hit of the spring, plays first base and plays it well turning a nifty DP. Still scratching my head a bit over what the Giants are doing with Buster, but Baggs and Chris Haft say not to worry, so I won't......for now.
Brandon Crawford- 1 for 2, HR(1). Yeah Brandon! Our shortstop of the future!
Aubrey Huff- 2 for 3. Huff continues his good hitting.
John Bowker- 1 for 3, HR(1). Bowks sure isn't making the Giants roster decisions easier, is he?
Eugenio Velez- 2 for 3, BB, SB. Speaking of roster decisions..... The Pharoah just doesn't give up! Making a strong bid for a roster spot, even with an option!
Jon Sanchez- 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K's. Pretty familiar line there.
Joe Martinez- 1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Ouch! Not the way to win that #5 starter job there.
Giants lost to Brewers 12-1. Key lines:
Nate- 1 for 3, 2B.
Wendell Fairley- 1 for 1, 2B. Nice to see the kid get in a game and make the most of the opportunity. Hopefully this gives him a confidence boost and makes his goals seem more real.
Kevin Frandsen- 1 for 3. Kevbo is scrapping for a MLB job.
Kevin Pucetas- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Very nice outing against a good MLB lineup. Last year's collapse must have been just fatigue.
Emmanuel Burriss has a recurrence of the fracture in his foot. Big, big setback for a kid who needs the playing time.
