Game Wrap 6/9/2022: Rockies 4 Giants 2

Giants fans saw a familiar pattern emerge in this game.  They took an early lead and appeared to have the game in hand with Logan Webb RHP pitching shutout ball for three innings.  Then the Rockies fourth inning went Error, GB single, GB single/error, Error, single.  Somehow 2 of the 3 the runs scored off that were credited as earned and the ballgame was over.  The Rockies added an insurance run in the 7'th off Tyler Rogers RHP that was also familiar, walk, double, GO, K, IF single, GO.

Joey Bart's replacement, Austin Wynns C was the only Giant with 2 hits and threw out a runner on an attempted SB.

Webb's final pitching line:  5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 10/1.  ERA= 3.77.

The Churn produces players who fill in admirably for injuries but let's face it, a lineup with 3 players who started the season in AAA is not generally going to compete over the long haul in MLB let alone the NL West.  Last season everything, and I mean everything, fell into place.  That's not going to happen every season.  A reasonable goal for this team remains making an expanded playoff field.

  1. I was at the game-great weather, but otherwise not a great experience. Giants missed Crawford at SS as one of the hits,Thairo and D. Walton watched it go between them. I did not understand how Logan Webb was charged with 2 ERs either. At this point it feels like the fact that the Giants never signed a power hitter is really hurting them. a little depth would go a long way right now.
