A game Giants bullpen could not overcome the lack of hitting and sloppy fielding as they fell short of completing a sweep of the Royals.
Brandon Belt DH returned to the lineup and homered in the 4'th inning for the Giants first run.
Sammy Long LHP did not allow an earned run for his third consecutive 3-inning appearance. The leadoff batter, Whit Merrifield led off the game with a single on a bunt pop to Thairo Estrada 2B. After a double put runners at 2'nd and 3'rd with one out, Brandon Crawford SS's throwing error led to 2 unearned runs scoring.
After the Giants 2-run rally in the 4'th inning, the game remained tied until the 8'th inning when John Brebbia RHP, who has been excellent, allowed a leadoff double that scored after a sac bunt and sac fly.

The Giants have a travel day and head to Pittsburgh where I am sure it is going to be nice a steamy for a weekend series. Carlos Rodon LHP faces Zach Thompson RHP in the opener on Friday evening.
