Logan Webb RHP battled Max Fried LHP even for 7 innings, but for the second game in a row, the Giants lost on a walkoff after tying the game late.
Logan Webb RHP- 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K's, GO/AO= 9/3. ERA= 3.26.
Max Fried LHP(Braves)- 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 2.77.
You can't get much better than that and you are not going to see many more evenly matched SP's.
The Giants had no XBH's in the game. Luis Gonzalez LF was the only batter in the Giants lineup to get 2 hits. One of them was a bunt single that led to the only run of the game.
Max Fried is a very good pitcher who probably qualifies as the Braves ace so it's understandable that the Giants offense was quiet but there's no denying it is struggling right now and needs to get better and soon.

The Giants offense may need to get better by tomorrow as Anthony DeSclafani RHP comes off the IL to face rookie Spencer Strider RHP, who has a 2.45 ERA in 44 IP, 15 games, 4 starts.

20222 additions of LHB Pederson & Gonzalez plus resurgence of YtY have helped, but Crawford, Belt, & Flores are down (especially Crawford), Estrada offsets Solano somewhat, but the big loss is:

This is a personal perception but it also seems that "clutch" is missing evidenced by not moving runners up or getting them home.
If there is such a thing as "situational hitting" it seems to be missing - LOL.
I would say that if hitting is down overall, some of those "0 for" PA's are going to occur in clutch situations which means clutch hitting is down too.
