Another bullpen failure derailed a game that got off to a promising start.
Wilmer Flores 1B- 3 for 4, HR(7). BA= .266. After the Rockies got on the board with a run in the first, Flores' 2-run HR got it back plus 1. The Giants added another run in the inning but that was the end of their scoring for the evening. Oh, and I will always believe Wilmer had a shot at winning that playoff game against the Dodgers!
Brandon Crawford SS left the game early with a quad strain. No word on severity but those can take a long time to heal.
The bullpen failure came when Zack Littell RHP allowed 2 runners in the 6'th. Kap brought in Jose Alvarez LHP to face Charlie Blackmon PH/RF. Blackmon put one in the water and that was the ballgame.
A silver lining was Sam Long LHP who came in and shut the Rockies down for 3 innings lowering his ERA to 2.35. Long was called up before the game to replace Alex Cobb RHP who went on the IL.

Alex Wood LHP tries to even the series tomorrow facing Antonio Senzatela RHP.
The bullpen will continue to falter as long as the Giants starting pitchers turn in subpar outings like Rodon did (and has consistently done). Yes, his numbers look semi impressive. However, he only went 4 and was pulled due to pitch count. This has been a consistent trait for him. Add in that Wood and Cobb can't go past 5 and Junis, though he's been stretching himself, was supposed to be a long reliever. The only starter who had been consistently able to log innings of note has been Webb. This'll lead to burnout for the bullpen. We're seeing it right now and can only plan on it getting worse. Sad.
