  1. Heh Doc! I am intrigued by Simon Whiteman,
Read his Yale biography; he comes across as a highly disciplined/motivated person.
Got better each year; well maintaining above average academics ( just missed on a Rhodes scholarship)
I cant recall/ what is your read on him?

  2. We may find out soon how cynical FZ is -- will he sell while the Giants are surging?
Teams that did the shake, rattle, and roll a bunch in the offseason: both the Mariners and Mets have fallen behind the Giants in overall 2019 record.
Guys who came and went: Parra has stuck with the Nats doing better than he did as a Giant, Connor Joe is doing OK at OK City, Michael Reed is still a River Cat but has been on the IL since the end of April, Kratz may be history after 6 dud games with the Rays, Steve Duggar is 5-16 and Mike Gerber is slashing .309/.376/.585/.961 in PCL sillyball.
Mac has hot 3 dingers in Seattle but not much else, and Jarrett Parker was called up by the Angels and went 0-5 with a walk and 2 Ks in his debut (actually he was 0-1 in his first game, 0-4 in his first start).
Where might the Giants be without Pillar, Solano, Dickerson, Vogt, Yastrzemski, Austin, and Solarte? Probably behind the Mets...

  3. Which River Cat will get the next shot with SF?
Zach Green, 25 yo, .304/.401/.707/1.108 19 HRs -- 5 in his last 10 games, he has been improving at each level.
Ronnie Freeman, C, 28 yo, is interesting, 10-27, 2 HRs in his last 10 games, 5 HRs in 29 sillyball games.
Garcia is playing 1B as is Green.
Chris Shaw, 25 yo, 15 HRs at 2 levels, 10-40, 4 HRs in his last 10 games.
Abiatal Avelino, 24 yo, 13-38, .342 in his last 10 games, in case Solano finds a new home this month.
    There are some pitchers ready:
Rogers has given up 1 HR in 40 innings of Sillyball, 2.58 GO:AO.
Selman has done an amazing (unbelievable?) job of cutting down his BB this year.
Fernando Abad, "old" guy with some success in MLB, has remarkedly cut down his walks this year, also.
D-Rod who won't be back soon is 3-3 with 3 doubles batting but hasn't pitched since he was sent down July 1 after a poor 33-pitch outing on June 30.

  4. Should the Giants have been interested in FA Dilson Herrera, 25 yo, Second Baseman, Third Baseman and Leftfielder?
Has some pop, hits the ball into the air, needed a new home...
MLBTR: ...this year ... Through 256 Triple-A plate appearances, he’s carrying a healthy .258/.355/.566 slash with 17 home runs. And it’s easy to forget that he only turned 25 in March.
