Down on the Farm: 7/14/2019

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies held off the Sacramento River Cats 5-4:

Steven Duggar CF- 3 for 3, BB, HBP.  BA= .368.
Joey Rickard LF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .368.
Mike Gerber RF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .315.
Christhian Adames 2B/3B- 2 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .292.
Ty Blach LHP- 7.1 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 11/4.  ERA= 5.93.

Grizzlies scored 3 runs in the top of the 9'th to take a 5-2 lead.  Cats scored 2 in the bottom of the inning but fell short.  Steven Duggar is raking since he showed up in Sacramento.  With YtY slumping in SF and Alex Dickerson with a sore back, might we see him back in SF soon?  Hard to judge effectiveness for pitching in the PCL, but Blach just hasn't been able to find any consistency.  He'll have a nice game like this one when he gets groundballs but then will get pummeled in his next start.  It would seem Conner Menez has moved past him on the depth chart.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels quieted the Harrisburg Senators 4-2:

Bryce Johnson RF- 1 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .288.
Jalen Miller 2B- 1 for 3, 2B, BB.  BA= .219.
Peter Maris PH- 1 for 1, 3B.  BA= .303.
Brandon Lawson RHP- 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.20.
Sam Moll LHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.05.
Melvin Adon RHP- 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.79.

A+  San Jose Giants downed the Lancaster Jethawks 5-3:

Heliot Ramos CF- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(11).  BA= .298.
Joey Bart C- 3 for 5, 2 2B. BA= .263.
Manuel Geraldo SS- 2 for 3, Sac.  BA= .224.
Aaron Phillips RHP- 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 4.54.

We are halfway through July and Heliot Ramos is not just surviving the Cal League at age 19, he's dominating it!  Joey Bart is 7 for 11 over his last 2 games and 9 for 19 over his last 4.

A  Asheville Tourists fended off the Augusta Greenjackets 4-3:

Ismael Munguia LF- 2 for 4.  BA= .285.
Anyesber Sivira 2B- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .275.
Ryan Walker RHP- 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.12.

This was the 5'th consecutive appearance in which Ryan Walker has gone at least 2 IP and not allowed a run.  In 11.2 IP in that span, he has struck out 16 batters and walked none.

Short Season  Hillsboro Hops topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 7-3:

Franklin Labour RF- 1 for 4, HR(12).  BA= .319.
Ricardo Genoves C- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(7).  BA= .292.
Tyler Flores 1B- 2 for 4.  BA= .287.
Yorlis Rodriguez 2B- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .276.

The NWL is a hitter's league, but at age 20 I think this still qualifies as a breakout season for Ricardo Genoves.

Rookie AZL  Giants Orange outlasted the D'Backs 3-2(10 innings):

Najee Gaskins CF- 2 for 4, BB, SB(4).  BA= .350.
Conner Nurse RHP- 4 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 1.25.
Marco Gonzalez LHP- 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 1.17.
Jamie Callahan RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(2).  ERA= 1.04.

Rookie AZL  Giants Black outscored the White Sox 13-10:

Ghordy Santos 2B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .300.
Grant McCray CF- 1 for 3, 2 BB, SB(4).  BA= .206.
Logan Wyatt DH- 2 for 3, BB, SF.  BA= .450.
Garrett Frechette 1B- 3 for 5.  BA= .333.
Dilan Rosario SS- 2 for 5.  BA= .238.
Matt Malkin C- 4 for 5.  BA= .333.
Brooks Crawford RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

In case you are wondering, Brooks Crawford was the Giants 29'th round draft pick out of Clemson.  He's got nice size for a pitcher at 6'4", 215 labs.

DSL  Luis Matos went 0 for 2 for the NL in the DSL All-Star Game.
