Down on the Farm: 4/22/2016

AAA  Sacramento River Cats defeated the Las Vegas 51's 3-1:

Mac Williamson RF- 2 for 4, 2 HR(4), SB(1).  BA= .303.
Mitch Delfino 3B- 1 for 3, HR(1), BB.  BA= .238.
Clayton Blackburn RHP- 8.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 12/5.  ERA= 2.89.

Mac did not seem to get rusty sitting on the bench for a week in SF.  Blackburn's stamina seems to be back to full strength after an early season flu attack.

AA Altoona Curve pounded the Richmond Flying Squirrels 10-2:

Christian Arroyo SS- 1 for 3, 3B.  BA= .295.
Matt Winn C- 2 for 3, 2B, HR(1), BB.  BA= .256.
Joan Gregorio RHP- 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 1.69.

Arroyo left the game early.  Gregorio had a QS with dominant K/BB.  In 3 starts this season, Gregorio has 21 K's against 5 BB's in 16 IP.

High A  Modesto Nuts topped the San Jose Giants 4-1:

Ronnie Jebavy CF- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .188.
Jose Vizcaino Jr DH- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .178.
Sam Coonrod RHP- 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K's, GO/AO= 8/0.  ERA= 0.00.
Pat Young RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.80.
Rodolfo Martinez RHP- 0.1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 1.69.

This was Coonrod's second start of the season.  He's pitched 9 scoreless innings.  Oddly, he did not have a K or BB in his first 4 inning stint.  Rodolfo has his first Blown Save of the season.

Augusta Greenjackets vs Charleston River Dogs suspended after 3 innings with the score 0-0:

Grant Watson LHP- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.32.

  1. Seems to me as though the Giants brought up Mac as a bench filler, yes, but more so to say "Here kid, watch what it's like up here on the big team. You belong here, so get yourself ready to take on the weight, we're going to be calling your name soon."

I take his first game back as a very good omen.
