Game Wrap 4/21/2016: D'Backs 6 Giants 2

An anemic Giants offense could not take advantage of another QS, this one by Johnny Cueto, as the D'Backs completed a 4 game sweep of the Giants in AT&T Park.  Key Lines:

Denard Span- 0 for 2, 2 BB, SB(2).  BA= .226.  That's a great line for a leadoff hitter.

Matt Duffy- 2 for 4.  BA= .234.   Duffman now has 3 2-hit games in a row.

Johnny Cueto- 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.49.  Not a great start, but a good one.  Offense has to allow you to win some of these.

The Loss drops the Giants in to a temporary last place tie with the Padres who are losing by a big margin to the Pirates, so the Giants will remain in 4'th place, 0.5 games out of the cellar.  The Dodgers won again in extra innings against the Braves and now lead the NL West by 1.5 games over the Rockies and D'Backs.

Jeff Samardzija will start off the new series against the Miami Marlins tomorrow evening facing Jared Cosart.  The Marlins have a long history of giving the Giants rough series.

  1. Anemic? High offensive points were 4 walks in a row for 1 run and a no-out double play ball the 2nd run.
There was also HP's ugly K in the first with a runner on 3rd and 1 out.
The guys are pressing so hard they are not playing IN their zones.

  2. Sad part was, the game was competitive through 7. But like it's been through the skid, we either get offense or pitching, not both.
