Blogger's Note

Unfortunately, due to the behavior of 1 or 2 trolls on the site, we had to institute a moderation function for comments.  Comments will not appear until they they have been reviewed and approved.  I will try to check the inbox as frequently as possible to keep the flow going.  I hope everybody understands.

    I am sorry and angry that you should have your work, your thought, and your judgment burdened by your having to keep visiting the inbox so often, Doctor B, on account of those severely adolescent or moderately deranged comments. I'll be glad not to see them, though.

    This sucks, but I think we all saw this coming years ago.

    I recommended this a while back, but maybe it is time to reconsider... Just require posters to have a handle. It seems that all the problem posters are anons. Remove them and the problem basically goes away.

      Thanks, Bacci. I am planning to write a post on Ernie Banks and what I consider a "Golden Age" of MLB brought on by bringing African-American players into the game.

      I got a picture signed of him at a baseball card show about 25 years ago. Seemed liked a great guy and definitely a role model. I am sure Cub's rookies get nervous meeting him for the first time like I believe Giant's rookies do with Mays and McCovey. He will be missed.

      Back in the 1990s I used to talk baseball and football at SFGate on the old forums they trashed. I stupidly used my real name which, ultimately, caused problems and I just decided to sit out sports talk for a long, long time.

      Now... I do a bit, but not a lot.

    Have you considered having an assistant moderator? I'm sure you're super busy and could use some help. If not family or friends there are some regular posters on this site who seem really sensible and respectable.
