Down on the Farm: 4/27/2012

AAA  Colorado Springs Sky Sox shut out the Fresno Grizzlies 6-0:

Nothing to see here.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the New Britain Rock Cats 5-4  in 13 innings:

Gary Brown(CF)- 1 for 5, SB(4).  BA= .211.
Tommy Joseph(C)- 2 for 6, 2B.  BA= .230.
Chris Dominguez(LF)- 2 for 6, 2B.  BA= .299.
Juan Perez(RF)- 2 for 6, HR(2).  BA= .289.
Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 3 for 4, BB.  BA= .214.
Ryan Cavan(2B)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .310.
Justin Fitzgerald(RHP)- 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.76.

Some bats showing signs of life here.  Perez and Cavan are doing surprisingly well in the early going.  Brown continues to scuffle.

High A  Visalia Rawhide downed the San Jose Giants 7-1:

Andrew Susac(C)- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .246.
Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 2 for 4.  BA= .269.
Taylor Rogers(RHP)- 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 7 K's.
David Holmberg(LHP, D'Backs)- 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 2.67.

Not much to get excited about here.  Rogers had good peripherals in this one.  Rawhide SP Holmberg is another of the D'Backs seemingly endless supply of pitching prospects.

Low A  Kannapolis Intimidators pounded the Augusta Greenjackets 9-5:

Shawn Payne(LF)- 3 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .349.
Jose Cuevas(2B)- 2 for 4, HR(4), BB.  BA= .260.
Ben Thomas(1B)- 2 for 4.  BA= .266.
Chris Marlowe(RHP)- 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K's, HBP, 2 WP.  ERA= 3.63.
Andrew Berger(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.75.
Keith Bilodeau(RHP)- 2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 8.44.

Payne and Cuevas are a bit old for the league.  Adventuresome start for Marlowe.  Bilodeau's performance has been disappointing so far, to say the least.

    1. Clayton Blackburn is doing well and I think Crick will come around. He's got the talent. Mejia is still very young so we need to be patient. Pitching is less of a concern with everybody signed up for at least one more year and Cainer + MadBum locked up.

    2. I was going to say the same. And the draft coming up may very well address those needs as well.
