Down on the Farm: 4/7/2012

AAA Fresno Grizzlies mauled the Tucson Padres 11-4:

Conor Gillaspie(3B)- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .308
Roger Kieschnick(LF)- 4 for 5, HR(1). BA= .538.
Charlie Culberson(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .364.

Peguero is off to a bit of a slow start, but the other true prospects in the Fresno lineup are going great, especially Roger K, who I think is a real sleeper.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels outlasted the New Britain Rock Cats 3-1 in 12 innings:

Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 4, SF, CS(1). BA= .462.
Adrianza(.250), Dominguez(.429), Perez(.267), Mayora(.200), and Cavan(.214)- 2 hits each.
Chris Heston(RHP)- 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K, GO/AO= 10/3. ERA= 0.00
Brett Bochy(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00.

Brown got both of his hits off Jason Marquis, a very crafty veteran MLB pitcher. Still a bit sloppy on the basepaths. Heston keeps his extreme GB ways going in AA. Multiple innings from the Boch.

High A Modesto Nuts topped the San Jose Giants 4-2:

Andrew Susac(C)- 1 for 3, BB. BA= .231.
Joe Panik(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .400.

Panik's experience in short season ball is holding him in good stead.

Low A Savannah Sand Gnats trounced the Augusta Greenjackets 7-1:

Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 2.2 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 0 BB, 0 K'. ERA= 20.25.
Kevin Couture(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA- 0.00.
Keith Bilodeau(RHP)- 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA- 4.50.
Derek Law(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA- 0.00.

Jumping from the DSL to Low A is huge. Mejia may need some seasoning in Arizona.

    1. Interesting read. I thought it was a little odd. Maybe just a bit detached? Maybe because broadcasters themselves are a bit detached? It left me wanting to know more about how she really feels.

    2. im amazed that she doesnt hate the game that basically took her daddy away for almost 6 months every year

miller came up at a time when clubs didnt giver their broadcasters time off for family events, like they do now

this was an early fathers day present...a thank you card from daughter to dad

    3. Thank you for passing this along. Great read.

I would note that while baseball player's children do have their daddy taken away for 6 months every year (at least ones not living in area of home, as many do), it appears, from the article, that Emilie spent a lot of time in the broadcast booth with her dad. And, of course, he was around during the day as well.

And I basically had my dad taken away too: he worked a swing shift, so I never saw him at all during the week, just on weekends, for roughly 8 years, until he passed away young. And I never hated his employer, though I will admit that I didn't realize that he could have had a job that had more regular work hours when I was younger. It was just my life, I never compared it with any other. I also appreciated that he had gainful employment that also took care of us after he passed away. Then again, I was an old man even as a kid. :^)

Yes, early Father's day present, thanks again!
