The Giants played lousy defense but Anthony DeSclafani RHP did not pitch well as the Giants fell back below .500.
Lamonte Wade Jr 1B and Thairo Estrada 2B reached base 5 times in 10 PA's but did not score as the 3, 4 and 5 hitters went a combined 1 for 14, BB.
4 of the Giants 10 hits were 2B and they added 4 walks. IDK what the projected scoring is for that but it sure seems like it should be more than 1 run. 2 for 16 with RISP might have had something to do with it.
Ryan Walker RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 0.00. I didn't see the game because I was at work but by all accounts, Walker's appearance was dominant and then some. A reliever who can do that for 2 innings is incredibly valuable.
Taylor Rogers LHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.80. Rogers is obviously at the bottom of Kap's trust ranking right now but has a 1.50 ERA in 6 IP, over his last 7 appearances.
The Giants move on to Milwaukee for a 4 gamer against the BrewCrew with Scott Alexander LHP Opening tomorrow against TBD.
The LOB in the box score accumulated by all batters was an astounding 38 – Haniger led with 8 (0-5)!
ReplyDelete10 hits, 4 walks, and 2 Twin errors produced 1 run.
Faidi on KNBR after the game said it was forgettable.
Maybe wrong about that! It was Unforgettable!
To answer the question not asked, MLB average RISP scoring in 2023 (based on 14,447 PAs) is 34% of which 32% were one or more men on base and the other 2% the batter. The Giants were 2 of 16, or 12.5%. The Giants, so far this year, are running at 30.8% thanks to hitting a rather poor .236 (.254 is MLB average) with runners in scoring position.
ReplyDeleteThere are teams that are worse. The Padres are hitting .184 while the A's are hitting .210.
