Game Wrap 8/13/2019: Giants 3 A's 2

Madison Bumgarner pitched like the ace he is and the Giants offense finally gave him a lead in the 6'th inning on B2B2B doubles.  An add-on run in the 7'th came in handy when Will Smith recreated Torture and finally got the final out with a run in and the bases loaded.  Key Lines:

Buster Posey C- 1 for 3, 2B, BB.   BA= .255.  Buster's 2-out double to Triples Alley started the 2 run rally in the 6'th inning.

Evan Longoria 3B- 1 for 4, 2B.  BA= .249.  Longo followed up Buster's double with one of his own into the LF corner to drive in Buster with the tying run.

Kevin Pillar CF- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .253.  Pillar followed Longo's double with a screamer that went right through LF Robbie Grossman's glove and caromed straight back off the wall for the go-ahead run.

Madison Bumgarner LHP- 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 3.63.  For awhile it looked like Madison was going to to get Bummed after giving up a solo HR to Stephen Piscotty and the Giants offense did their usual el foldo against Brett Anderson.  The doubles explosion finally gave him the lead and he contributed to the add-on run with a nice sac bunt to set up Scooter Gennett's Sac Fly.

Will Smith LHP- 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, Save(29).  ERA= 2.55.  Smith's slider was not fooling the A's hitters at all and the A's chipped away to load the bases.  A walk to Mark Canha drove in 1 run.  With the help of some friendly calls by the home plate ump, he managed to K Chad Pinder for the final out which led Kuip to resurect his Torture call.

  1. Bum pitched like an Ace - sign that man to a 5 year contract. He and Marichal will be 1 and 2 in career team wins.

  2. I believe Bum is gone after this season along with Smith, an opportunity to get something in return missed.
