AAA  Sacramento River Cats outscored the Fresno Grizzlies 6-5:

Austin Slater DH- 2 for 4, 2 2B, BB.  BA= .388.
Ryder Jones 3B- 3 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .250.
Kyle Jensen 1B- 2 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .209.

Derek Law RHP- 1.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 10.13.

Giants can keep Hunter Pence in rehab assignment until May 16.  After that, they will have to make a very tough decision or two or 3.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels downed the Reading Fightin' Phils 4-2 in 5 innings(complete early due to rain):

Ryan Howard SS= 1 for 2, BB.  BA= .306.
Dylan Davis LF- 1 for 1, 2 BB.  BA= .256.

A+  Lancaster Jethawks bombed the San Jose Giants 12-5:

Bryce Johnson CF- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .295.
Heath Quinn LF- 1 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .317.
Gio Brusa 1B- 1 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .243.
Frandy De La Rosa 3B- 1 for 4, HR(5).  BA= .231.

Not a good day for pitchers in the high desert of SoCal.  It was very warm today on SoCal and I'm guessing they don't have a humidor at the ballpark in Lancaster.

  1. Personally, I think they should trade Pence in a salary dump (if they can) or just DFA him. I love what he did for the Giants, but professional sports are cruel and careers seldom end on an up-note.

    1. Agree. Ichiro just moved to the front office. Maybe Pence could make a similar "jump." I think Gorkys, Slater, Williamson, Blanco are superior contributors.

    2. Maybe he would retire if he got a chance to prove to himself that he can't hit anymore?

    3. Pence injured his thumb, he was hitting fine in spring, he should be fine once he's finally healthy, but they should not let him touch a MLB field unless he is fully healthy, because he costs the Giants when he's making due with aches and pains, he can't do that at the major league level.

  2. Rough appearance for Law. Seems like he has now been passed up on the AAA depth chart.

Any word as to why Heliot Ramos is struggling so much?

    1. Ramos is 18 years old and it's the SAL. Isn't that reason enough for him to struggle?

    2. Heliot is playing against pitchers who are 4 years older and that much more experienced than he is, and position players are, on average, 3.4 years older than him, who is roughly 18.5 YO right now, playing his first full season pro league. I think he will figure it out and move up next season.
