Down on the Farm: #45 Bryce Bandilla

#45 Bryce Bandilla, LHP. 6'4", 237 lbs. BD: 1/16/1990.

College(Arizona): 5-3, 3.66, 46.2 IP, 36 BB, 48 K's, 1 Save, BAA= .213.

Bandilla(I understand the L's are pronounced L rather than Y) is from Sacramento. He's a beast on the mound who's FB sits at 92-95 MPH and has touched 97. He also has an advanced changeup. He has a slurvy breaking ball that he throws in the bullpen but not in games. Drafted by the Giants in round 4 of the 2011 draft on the strength of his exceptional size and velocity for a LHP. He signed too late to get in any games so will make his pro debut in 2012. He'll have to get a frightful walk rate down to be successful in the pros.

  1. I'm shocked - shocked! - that a lefty who can touch 97 is wild! Looks like Dick Tidrow project 1A. If successful, this guy rockets up the list.

In a not at all shocking move, Rich Harden needs some more time with James Andrews. Really sad such a talented guy has just never been healthy.

Project injury reclamation is down to Webb and Kazmir. Fangraphs ran a story on Webb, it just doesn't look good for the guy. So the last formally very good to great pitcher is Kazmir.

  2. It is like DrB's common thread through a lot of these bottom of list guys: it is great to have guys down this low who have great skills at something, like a 97 MPH heater. Hey, Lincecum was very wild in college too, he was able to figure it out, so it is not impossible.

  3. We will see, I've played against him growing up and he has been wild his whole life. Great kid so I hope he can pull it in
