I forgot to mention in the game wrap that last night's game was Stand Up to Cancer night at Petco Park. A large group dressed in bright yellow T-shirts stood in the RF stands the entire game. Major kudos to Heath Bell, whose father was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year, for joining them in standing for the whole game. Bell and the Padres bullpen have helped raise money for the organization all year.
I have to say, when I saw Bell standing up out there on the RF porch, I wondered if that meant he was unavailable for this game, or if he was available, if standing all game would have an impact on his performance. As it turned out, it didn't matter. Fortunately a Save situation never came up for either team in this game.
Anyway, I don't like Heath Bell one bit when he's out there on the mound against the Giants in the 9'th inning, but gotta give credit where it's due. He stood up for a good cause last night.
