  1. 0-5 (including SF): a horrible day for the entire system.
    Is the Future there somewhere?
Doesn't there need to be not just a half dozen jewels but a plethora of studs? Like maybe 10 or 15 or 20? Hitters: who are they? Eldridge? Luciano? Tibbs III? Matos? Charlie Szykowny? (An attempt at humor there.)
Are there even 10 to get really, really excited about?
    Where's the beef?

    1. First of all, the top of the system thinned out this season due to graduations. Secondly, no organization has even 10 "studs" in their system let alone 15-20. There are several good looking young hitters in the system starting with Eldridge. We'll dig into all that in the offseason but I am confident the Giants farm system is significantly stronger today than it was 5 years ago. That is probably the one and only reason I would think twice about replacing FZ.

    2. To clarify my questionable terminology, studs are below jewels.
The jewels are the stars, the studs fill the roster.
As you aptly, more aptly than I, put it below: "you do want to see good performance from more than 1 or 2 players per level" – those would be my, perhaps ill-y named, "studs."

    3. We have a whole offseason coming up to break down the farm system and sort it all out. My opinion is the. Giants have a significantly better farm system than they had 6 years ago and appear to have added at least 4 of your "studs" this season in Ramos, Fitzgerald, Harrison and Birdsong.

  2. Who cares if the minor leaguers win or lose? Ragsdale had a good outing …

    1. Agree, W-L records in the minors mean nothing. It's all about individual performance but you do want to see good performance from more than 1 or 2 players per level.
