Down on the Farm: 8/1/2024

AAA:  Sacramento River Cats defeated the Reno Aces 5-1:

Grant McCray CF- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .273.
Luis Matos LF- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .244.
Trenton Brooks 1B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .313.
Jakson Reetz C- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB.  BA= .243.
Ryan McKenna DH/RF- HR(2), BB.  BA= .227.
Brett Auerbach 3B- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .296.
Mason Black RHP- 6 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.95.
Kolton Ingram LHP- 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.80.

I think Grant McCray is the guy to keep an eye on here.  He has a 9 game hit streak in which he is 13 for 39.

AA:  Altoona Curve edged out the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-4:

Ismael Munguia LF- 1 for 3, 2B, BB, HBP, SB(7).  BA= .263.
Turner Hill CF- 1 for 4, 3B, BB.  BA= .325.
Seth Lonsway LHP- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, GO/AO= 9/4.  ERA= 1.38.
Travis Kiest RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.12.

Seth Lonsway has always had the stuff.  Has his command finally caught up?

A+:  Everett Aquasox outlasted the Eugene Emeralds 13-11(10 innings):

Scott Bandura CF- 1 for 5, 2B, BB.  BA= .200.
Quinn McDaniel 2B- 2 for 6, 2B, SB(30).  BA= .245.
Bryce Eldridge 1B- 1 for 4, 2 BB.  BA= .277.
Charlie Szykowny 3B- 2 for 3, 2B, 3 BB, 2 SB(2).  BA= .310.
Onil Perez C- 1 for 5, BB, 2 SB(19).  BA= .245.
Trent Harris RHP- 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 1.73.

If Bryce Eldridge starts next season in A+ ball, he'll still be just 20 yo and ahead of the development curve.

Timmy Manning LHP- 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 6.07.
Elijah Pleasants RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.29.

Lender Bracho RHP- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.74.

DSL: Mariners vs Giants Black Suspended in top of 3'rd inning.

  1. Doc..I have not heard about Reggie Crawford recently. Is he injured? Is he a possibility to be in the Giant's bullpen by season's end?

    2. June 13, 2024 Sacramento River Cats placed Reggie Crawford on the 7-day injured list.

  2. McCray would be nice in CF, may have to wait until SF figures out they don't need Conforto so Ramos can be moved to LF.
That won't happen until even the Giants don't think they can get to a WC which would require better than .600 winning percentage for the remaining 52 games. .600 only gets to 85 wins, probably need at least 88.
Yastrzemski is sooo much better than Conforto: bWAR 1.9 to 0.5, OPS+ 116 to 102, dWAR +0.4 to -0.4 – YtY has 2 fewer HRs in 22 less ABs.

  4. Could the Giants go in to 2025 with an outfield mix of Ramos, Yaz, McCray, Matos, Luciano?

    1. Good point and all the better. I like the OF mix for 2025 without any additions, just need another young player to step up big like Ramos has.

  5. Crawford is injured with a sore shoulder, per Pavlovic. Uncertain if he will pitch again this season
