Blake Snell had a letdown game after is no-hitter but still recorded a Quality Start and the lineup picked him up with a sustained attack. Key Lines:
Lamonte Wade Jr 1B- 1 for 4, BB. BA= .290. It doesn't look like much of a line but it's an OBP of .400.
Heliot Ramos CF- 2 for 5, HR(17). BA= .289. Heliot's thumb is apparently fine and he's busted out of his mini-slump after resting it for 2 days. 4 for 10 with 2 HR over his last two games.
Matt Chapman 3B- 3 for 4, 2B, HR(19). BA= .248. If you go by fWAR points, Chapman is frontrunner for team MVP.
Mike Yastrzemski RF- 2 for 4, 3B, HR(9). BA= .248. YtY's contract is controlled for one more year. I'm guessing he will be back next season.
Blake Snell LHP- 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 8 K's, GO/AO= 7/0. ERA= 4.31. Snell's hitless innings string lasted for 2 outs. He ends up with a line that is disappointing only for him. Getting to 6 IP on 93 pitches is another positive sign.
Camilo Doval RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, Save(22). ERA= 4.19. More drama from Doval. He had the tying run at the plate with 1 out but after a mound visit from Bryan Price induced a game-ending GIDP.
The Win got the Giants back to .500 and a game closer to the final Wild Card playoff spot at a 3.5 game deficit.
Kyle Harrison LHP tries for a series win on getaway day tomorrow facing DJ Herz LHP. All eyes will be on Harrison's velocity.
Chapman has also score 80 runs, 2nd in the NL currently. When was the last time a Giant scored over a hundred runs(?)
ReplyDeleteHunter Pence in 2014: 106, He was probably the last to play 162 games, too
ReplyDeleteDoval is giving me Casilla vibes, I think closer by committee has to be on the table.
ReplyDeleteHARRISON needs to put his big pants on today, a win is crucial with NYM, AZ, SD smoking..Guess they are chasing the BRAVES first *4 games next week)..A win for the flight hiome and the rest of the season would be great..
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I have had some Crow Parmigiana a few nights this week for Chappy!

Other than drawing major league pay, is Schmitt helping himself hitting so poorly? Is 0 for 15 (5 games) or 1 for 22 (7 games) building confidence?
ReplyDeleteAnd, is it helping the Giants whose biggest problem is getting runners home?
The Giants have alternatives:
Wisely as a LHB seems to hit LHP reasonably, at least better than Schmitt.
Villar has played 2B (and also a significant number of games at 3B).
Should the Giants fall too far behind to make the playoffs, it would be a good time to try Luciano at 2B. If not before?
