Down on the Farm: 8/10/2018

AAA  Sacramento River Cats quieted the El Paso Chihuahuas 1-0:

Daniel Camarena LHP- 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 5.02.

AA  New Hampshire Fisher Cats downed the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-1:

CJ Hinojosa 2B- 2 for 4.  BA= .271.
Luigi Rodriquez RF- 2 for 4, HR(13).  BA= .286.
Dan Slania RHP- 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.68.

CJ Hinojosa seems like a guy who could benefit from the extra PA's in the AFL.

A+  Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 10-3:

Bryce Johnson CF- 3 for 4, Sac.  BA= .255.
Heath Quinn LF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .299.
Dillon Dobson 1B- 2 for 4, HR(4), BB.  BA= .255.

*********************************************************************************

Low A  Greenville Drive doubled up the Augusta Greenjackets 10-5:

Heliot Ramos CF- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .237.
Manuel Geraldo SS- 1 for 5, HR(9).  BA= .285.
Logan Baldwin RF- 1 for 3, 3B, HBP, SB(23).  BA= .242.
Shane Matheny 3B- 2 for 2, BB, HBP.  BA= .198.

I'm really proud of how Heliot Ramos has hung in there through the grind of a full season in a really tough environment for young hitters.

Short Season  Vancouver Canadians topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 10-7(10 Innings):

Kyle McPherson 2B- 2 for 5.  BA= .289.
Diego Rincones LF- 2 for 5, 2 HR(7).  BA= .359.
Joey Bart C- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .336.
Aaron Bond CF- 1 for 5, HR(7).  BA= .284.
Nico Giarratano SS- 2 for 4.  BA= .298.
Sean Hjelle RHP- 1.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 5.40.
Keaton Winn RHP- 4.1 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.50.

Diego Rincones has been hot all season but he's absolutely on fire now.  After going 4 for 5 with 2 2B and winning MVP of the NWL All Star Game, he's come back to S-K and hit 3 dingers in 2 games. He's just 19 yo.  He should take the Augusta Challenge next season.   Is it too early to get worried about Sean Hjelle?

Rookie AZL  Giants Orange outscored the Royals 7-5:

Anyesber Sivira DH- 2 for 6, 2 2B.  BA= .286.
Yorlis Rodriguez 3B- 0 for 4, BB, HBP, 2 SB(5). BA= .303.
George Bell CF/RF- 1 for 4, BB, 2 SB(8).  BA= .303.
Tyler Flores LF/1B- 1 for 2, 3 BB.  BA= .288.
Jose Patino RF/LF- 2 for 5, SB(1).  BA= .190.
Robert Antunez 2B- 2 for 4, BB, SB(4).  BA= .171.
Frances Pena RHP- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.77.
Julio Rodriguez RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 2.03.

Julio Rodriguez has 10 consecutive scoreless frames.  3000 rpm's on the deuce, baby!

*********************************************************************************

Rookie AZL  Dodgers beat the Giants Black 6-2(Game 1 of DH, 7 Innings):

Frankie Tostado DH- 1 for 2, HR(3), BB.  BA= .296.

*********************************************************************************

Rookie AZL  Giants Black blanked the Dodgers 3-0(Game 2 of DH, 7 Innings):

Alexander Canario CF- 2 for 3.  BA= .282.
Francisco Medina 2 for 3.  BA= .248.
Luis Moreno RHP- 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 3.35.

Luis Moreno has a 2.32 ERA in 9 Appearances since his first 2. He was 4-1 with a 3.23 ERA in the DSL last year with uninspiring K/BB.  He's improved his peripherals in Arizona this year.   Q: Where are all these kids going to play next year now that the Giants have 2 rookie ball teams?  Seems like there is going to have to be some serious weeding out between now and then.  Maybe that's a good thing?

DSL  Giants rolled over the Pirates2 13-6:

Ghordy Santos SS- 1 for 4, HR(2), BB.  BA= .199.
Luis Toribio 3B- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .273.
Richgelon Juliana CF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .273.
Omar Medina 1B- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .198.
Rodolfo Bone C- 3 for 3, 2B, 3B, 2 HBP.  BA= .340.
Andrew Caraballo 2B- 1 for 4, 3B, SF.  BA= .223.
Yoniel Ramirez RHP- 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.50.
Josdeiker Marcano RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 1.69.

Rodolfo Bone, grade 80 name aside, looks like he just might be a serious prospect.

  1. Kets go Aaron Bond!!!! Best name in all of Giants. You get Bond as in James Bond as in Barry Bond(s). You get Aaron as in Hank Aaron as in Aaron Rodgers. 6'5 power potential speed potential lets get it Aaron Bond!!!

  2. Sean Hjellie seems like a solid pitching prospect. Should we be concerned about his initial pro performance, after he completed the grind of a long 2018 college baseball season? I've read that the main question with him is how his stuff will translate in MLB.

  3. In an organization short in prospects Rincones is making a name for himself. McC had a nice mini feature on him today comparing his stats to past Giant teens who had comparable years at same level.
