Mark Appel(RHP, Grizzlies)- 6.2 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 5.87.

You could make a case that Stratton pitched just as well or slightly better than Appel.  The BABIP gods taketh and giveth.

AA  Harrisburg Senators beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 3-1:

Austin Slater(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .256.

Joan Gregorio(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.11

Kyle Crick did not have more BB's than K's and completed an inning.  All 3 Senators runs scored in the first inning.

High A  San Jose Giants outlasted the Bakersfield Blaze 2-1 in 14 innings:

Christian Arroyo(SS)- 3 for 6, BB, SB(3).  BA= .328.
Ryder Jones(3B)- 3 for 6, 2B, HR(6).  BA= .289.

Tyler Horan(RF)- 1 for 4, 2 BB.  BA= .208.
Ray Black(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 1.86.
Luis Ysla(LHP)- 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 7.28.
Jake Smith(RHP)- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.51.

Dan Slania(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.63.

The Giants first two draft picks from 2 years ago continue to impress.  Black either struck out or walked 9 of the 11 batters he faced.  Was this Ysla's strongest appearance as a professional?  SJ bullpen may have some arms falling off pretty soon.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets pounded the Rome Braves 9-5:

Johneshwy Fargas(CF)- 1 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .290.
Aramis Garcia(Catcher)- 3 for 3, 2 2B, BB.  BA= .240.

Rookie AZL Giants blanked the Rangers 2-0:

Mikey Edie(CF)- 2 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .238.
Michael Santos(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 0.00.
Stetson Woods(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 4.35.
Andrew Suarez(LHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Grant Watson(LHP)- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Michael Santos makes his long-awaited 2015 debut.  Good to see Stetson Woods get back on his horse after being throwed in his last appearance.  Suarez and Watson are probably too advanced for Rookie ball.

DSL  Giants beat the Mets1  4-2:

Hengerber Medina(RHP, 20 yo)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 1.00.

Medina strikes out 8 of 10 batters he faced which is dominating no matter what league you are pitching in.  He has 26 K's against just 5 BB's in 18 IP over 10 appearances since converting to pitcher at the start of this season.

  1. Santos actually debuted in Augusta this year DrB but it was cut short by a shoulder injury (I forgot where I read the shoulder injury part). Bill Mitchell saw him today and he said he looked pretty good and his FB touched 94 MPH. I feel that this is just a rehab stint for him and he's gonna be promoted soon.

  2. Crick is in the bullpen now? Or is there a log-jam at starting pitching?

    1. He's in the bullpen for now to try to get his control back.

    2. Boy, Crick doesn't look good right now. He's been a pro for something like 4 years now and he can't hit the broad side of a barn. I'm afraid it's all mental with him too, as we know he's got electric stuff. He looks jittery out there on the mound in the videos I've seen, like he isn't comfortable in his own skin. Hopefully he figures it out but I'm afraid he's no longer a top 10 prospect in the organization, which is a bummer.

  3. Christian Jones got the magical 4 strike outs in one inning tonight for San Jose. The second batter struck out and made it to 1B on a wild pitch. You don't see that every day.
