Someone on Covechatter's blogroll had Johnson hitting 95 MPH in every inning.  In his last 4 starts, Johnson has a 1.26 ERA in 24.1 IP with 6 BB and 31 K's.  Should we be considering Chase Johnson a top tier pitching prospect?

According to BA's Transactions list, the Giants signed 12'th round draft pick Hector Santiago, SS.  They also released Ryan Bradley, Guillermo Quiroz, Ryan Jones, Ronny Cedeno, Brett Jackson and Brennan Metzger.

  1. Santiago signing means that the Giants got all their top twenty players, plus eleven more.

  2. So with Quiroz gone, Jackson Williams must be the veteran Plan B if Sanchez gets another head shot while he is filling in for Susac. Sanchez really needs to be thinking about changing positions long term, I just don't know how you can avoid them as a catcher. Probably hurting any trade value he might have had too.

Overall, the Giants minor league system just seems to have so much more depth than it has had in the past. Going to be interesting the next few years to see how we use it.

  3. Shame to see Blackburn struggle as I thought he might earn a call-up in case of rotation problems seeing as he got a lot of favorable press (ranked as high as #5 prospect on one list) before Spring Training.

  4. Has anyone heard what happened to Mac Williamson or when Gustavo Cabrera will return?

    1. We've answered this one several times: Mac Williamson is on leave to play for Team USA.

No word on Gustavo Cabrera. He came out of, like, the second game of the season right after running out a triple, so I assume it's a pretty bad hammy.
