AA Trenton Thunder defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-1:
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 2.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 5 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.78.
Tyler Mizenko(RHP)- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 4/0. ERA= 1.78.
Disaster start for Mejia. Mizenko might be a potential SP candidate. His season line includes 30.1 IP, 10 B, 18 K's, GO/AO= 3.06. That GB ratio might not be sustainable over more innings, but is dominant.

So why is Murray in the same class as Miller and Beltre, in your eyes? I see nothing in him that would make him radar-worthy. His numbers have been OK, but nothing special and he is a 25th rounder. Beltre and Miller, I understand looking at and following.
ReplyDeleteThis is a question, not a challenge...
OK, I hit the button on this one earlier today, but since CSS has generally been a constructive commenter, I reconsidered when he re-submitted it. Here we go:
Delete1. Challenge? Question? Not sure I get the difference. Certainly the tone of the question was a challenge.
2. The comment was not meant as any kind of a ranking or comparison. I was just trying to have some fun with 3 athletic kids under 20 yo whose names are showing up in the minor league highlights fairly regularly. Nothing more, nothing less. Gotta lighten up a bit there, CSS. We do try to have a little fun on this site from time-to-time.
3. If you absolutely have to know how I would rank them, all you have to do is look at the positions they are playing. SS, 2B, LF. 1,2,3, in that order. It's not rocket science! As I have said many times in other prospect rankings, please do not get too hung up on exact rankings. Get to know the players in the Giants system. Again, these are 3 athletic players under age 20 who are playing well. That's really all we need and should want to know about them.
4. I actually really like Byron Murray a lot and think he was one of the great coups of the 2014 draft. Go back and look at my post-draft scouting report and look up my comments in the pre-season Top 50 Giants Prospects.
Doc, I REALLY did not mean it as a challenge. I respect your opinions and your site, and I wondered what I was missing on the kid and wanted your input. There is nothing I MUST have from this site. Only your input and your opinions. I try to learn from them.
ReplyDeleteI apologize if the tone in my post was horribly written.
