Quite a day for Trevor Cohen. He now has 5 consecutive 2-hit games. After going 0 for 10 in his first two AA games, he is batting .371 over his last 9. Squirrels stole a total of 11 bases in game 2.

I attended this game with a friend. Rough game for Young Luis Hernandez. In addition to the 5 K's he got eaten up by a hot smash to his left at 3B. Before the game I noticed a fan over in Section CB3 wearing an orange Wynja shirsey and wondered about it. Then Hayden Wynja showed up in the 6'th inning to start a rehab assignment. He looked sharp despite the 2 walks. I assume the fan in CB3 was a family member? If you are out there and reading, Go Hayden Wynja! As I like to say, 6' 9" lefties don't grow on trees.
DSL: Both Giants DSL teams were idle.
Cohen and Klein have taken to Richmond nicely...as di dDakota Jordan who was called up with them. Unfortunately now on the DL after running out a gounder and maybe hurting his ankle on the bag. Or a hammy? WHo knows? Not much info usually given on ordinary MiLB injuries!......And how bout Parks Harber in SAC?..Good work by Buster there!

Dakota Jordan on the 7 day IL. Very disappointing. No injury or reason listed. He missed time last year during two different occasions but was healthy for most of the year still. This year he’s been healthy all year until now. Regardless of whether people may or may not think he’s injury prone, he’s still one talented and tooled-up player, and I’m simply disappointed because I was so excited he just got to AA. Hopefully it’s only for a short amount of time.
ReplyDeleteTrevor Cohen is very intriguing. Kyle Haines said in an interview that minor leaguers who have battled skills like Killen and Cohen tend to play better in the majors as opposed to guys who have power but strike out a lot like Chris Shaw, Joey Bart, Hunter Bishop, etc. Cohen has been compared to Steve Finley so would be interesting if he could have a career as a player giving good defense, 20 plus stolen bases, good average, great walk/strike out ratio, and 10 plus home runs.
ReplyDeleteTrevor Cohen needs to be a hawk in CF, he's an oufield Arraes with good batting skills but no power, just 4 HRs in 557 PAs, but he can hit and get on base.
DeleteSomething is right in the fram system, so many prospects meeting and exceeding expectations cannot be a coincidence. As for Hernandez, was it Zito who said "you should be a damn good pitcher to lose 20 games?" You should be a damn good prospect to strike out 5 times in a game.
