Down on the Farm: 7/2/2026

AAA:  Sacramento River Cats outscored the El Paso Chihuahuas 9-7.

Jesus Rodriguez C- 1 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .286.
Will Brennan LF- 3 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .368.
Scott Bandura CF- 1 for 5, 2 SB(5).  BA= .248.
Zach Morgan 1B- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .250.
Turner Hill RF- 1 for 4, 3B, BB, SB(15).  BA= .307.
Aeverson Arteaga SS- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .264.
Jason Foley RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 5.40.
Tristan Beck RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.71.
Spencer Bivens RHP- 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.32.
Nick Zwack LHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 6.55.

I don't think Jason Foley is Closer material because he is a fairly extreme contact pitcher with very few K's and has been that his entire career.  That approach may work as a set up man like it did for Tyler Rogers but like Rogers it falls apart in the Closer role.  Tristan Beck- hey! I'ts better than giving up 4 runs in 0.0 IP.  It might be time to give Spencer Bivens another shot.

AA:  Harrisburg Senators shut down the Richmond Flying Squirrels 8-4.

Parks Harber 3B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .277.
Jean Carlos Sio RF- 1 for 4, HR(6).  BA= .272.
Jack Payton LF- 3 for 4.  BA= .286.
Diego Velasquez 2B- 3 for 4, 2 2B, SB(16).  BA= .278.
Cesar Perdomo LHP- 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 3.98.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds at Vancouver Canadians postponed by Rain.

A:  San Jose Giants shut out the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5-0.

Lisbel Diaz CF- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .300.
Lorenzo Meola SS- 1 for 3, HR(7).  BA= .233.
Junior Barajas C-  1 for 3, HR(6).  BA= .241.
Ben Bybee RHP-  6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 5.12.
Alix Hernandez RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 2.79.
Garrett Langrell RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.15.

Alix Hernandez is quietly having a strong season as a multi-inning reliever.  I would like to see him tried again as a SP or moved up to A+ so push him a little.  I think he lost some development time to injury over the past 2 seasons.

ACL:  Giants clubbed the Brewers 12-3.

Luis Hernandez 3B(17 yo)- 3 for 5, SB(5).  BA= .302.
Broedy Poppell C(24 yo)- 1 for 5, HR(1).  BA= .143.
Rayner Arias LF(20 yo)- 1 for 2, HR(1), 2 HBP.  BA= .181.
Angel Guzman DH(20 yo)- 2 for 2, 2 2B, 2 BB.  BA= .293.
Luis Frias CF(21 yo)- 1 for 2, HR(3), BB, HBP.  BA= .282.
Brayan Narvaez RHP(21 yo)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.18.
Melvin Pineda RHP(22 yo)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.26.

I doubt the Giants would promote Luis Hernandez to A San Jose as a 17 yo but I can't wait to see what he does there next season.  Very exciting prospect.  Broedy Poppell was drafted as a catcher but only played OF and DH for San Jose.  Looks like he got sent down to ACL to get catching reps.

DSL:  Cubs Red defeated Giants Orange 4-1(6 innings).

Yoxander Benitez 2B(19 yo)- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .300.
Josue Perez RHP(19 yo)- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.38.
Kelvin Silva RHP(20 yo)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

DSL:  Giants Black beat Tigers 1 6-2(6 innings).

Franco Willias LF(21 yo)- 3 for 3, SB(12).  BA= .321.
Vinicius Dos Santos RF(19 yo)- 1 for 2, SF, SB(11).  BA= .279.
Alessandro Camacaro 2B(18 yo)- 1 for 2, 2B, SF.  BA= .250.
Simon Colmenares RHP(20 yo)- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's, 7/1 GO/AO.  ERA= 7.31.

  1. All 7 of the Giants' minor league teams have winning records.
The SF Giants have used 26 pitchers including 2 position players (Koss and Kennedy – others?) and 23 position players (plus 3 pitchers who got into games but had no ABs). Logan Porter – since gone from SF – got into a game as a pinch runner and scored a run is included in the 23.
Giants team ERA is 21st in MLB, a full run behind the leading Yankees & Brewers. Most of the leading teams are are currently "in" the playoffs.
Giants are 27th in runs scored and 21st in HRs.
