DrB's 2024 Giants Top 50 Prospects: Honorable Mention(Part 5)

Matt Mikulski LHP.   DOB:  5/8/1999.  6'4", 205 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2024.

2023 (A+):  4-3, 6.75, 66.2 IP, 9.59 K/9, 7.29 BB/9, GB/FB= 0.86.  

I keep seeing scouting reports of a 55/60 FB and a 60/70 changeup(Fangraphs).  I saw him pitch for SJ in 2022 and frankly I didn't see anything close to that kind of stuff.  In that start he threw what looked to me like mostly cutters and changeups with poor command and got knocked around.  Results since tend to correlate with my observations.  I would love for him to prove me wrong.

2023(A+):  2-5, 4.58, 88.1 IP, 10.19 K/9, 2.55 BB/9.

Don't have much of a scouting report but pitched well enough in A+ to move up to AA.

Ty Weber RHP.  DOB:  3/19/1998.  6'4", 220 lbs. 

2023(A+):  3-2, 10.08, 27.2 IP, 5.20 K/9, 3.90 BB/9.

2023(AAA):  0-0, 1.80, 5 IP, 3.60 K/9, 1.80 BB/9.

Hmm......not sure why I put him in the HM list after looking more closely at these numbers.

Eric Silva RHP.  DOB:  10/3/2002.  6'1", 185 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2025.

2023(A+):  2-7, 5.92, 76 IP, 8.64 K/9, 4.62 BB/9.  

Above-slot HS bonus baby from the 2021 draft.  Results have not matched those expectations but still has time to develop.  Best pitch per Fangraphs scouting report is curveball rated 55/60.

Carson Ragsdale RHP.  DOB:  5/25/1998.  6'8', 225 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible

2023(A+):  0-1, 2.93, 27.2 IP, 13.66 K/9, 1.95 BB/9.  

Missed all of 2022 with thoracic outlet surgery then was shut down May after 7 starts and just 27.2 IP with the dreaded forearm tightness.  Great numbers when healthy and love the height.
