Gavello is listed as a catcher. 12'th round draft pick in 2022. Simon was a 5'th round pick out of Notre Dame. Per Roger Munter tweets, he's been hitting 98 MPH this spring.

ReplyDeleteIs San Jose a low placement for Whisenhunt? He was there briefly last year. Would Eugene have been too aggressive?
ReplyDeleteThe current Giants philosophy is extremely conservative placements whereas the previous regime believe in pushing/challenging prospects. I think either way the talent will show up. There is nothing wrong with Whisenhunt proving out for a couple of months before advancing to A+. He could even sniff AA before the end of the season. The Giants had several prospects move through 3 levels last season.
