AAA Fresno Grizzlies beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-4:
Tyler Colvin(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(2). BA= .269.
Andrew Susac(Catcher)- 2 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .310.
Chris Dominguez(RF)- 2 for 4, 2 HR(4). BA= .278.
David Huff(LHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 0.00.
Dominguez breaks out his power alter ego. Susac seems like such a solid hitter. Looks like Huff is ready to come off the DL any time.
AA Erie Seawolves edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-5:
Matt Duffy(SS)- 2 for 4, SF. BA= .296.
Jarrett Parker(CF)- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB. BA= .273.
Devin Harris(LF)- 2 for 4, 3B. BA= .167.
Kelby Tomlinson(2B)- 2 for 3, SB(8). BA= .195.
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 5.22.
Cody Hall(RHP)- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.26.
QS for Mejia with solid peripheral numbers.
High A San Jose Giants topped the Modesto Nuts 4-1:
Joe Biagini(RHP)- 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 3.66.
Mason McVay(LHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 6.87.
The Giants managed just 4 hits, but made them count. Miller and Ragira each had doubles with 2 RBI.
Low A Delmarva Shorebirds blanked the Augusta Greenjackets 6-0:
Keury Mella(RHP)- 5.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.66.
Nick Vander Tuig(RHP)- 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 14.29.
Mella allowed just 1 run over his first 5 IP with solid peripherals. Gonna chalk the 3 runs he gave up in the 6'th to fatigue.

While it may, technically, be a QS for Mejia, that is the type of start that makes the QS a very questionable stat. He had a 1.50 WHIP and a 4.50 ERA on the game, in a pitching league.
ReplyDeleteA good start in the minors, for me, is one that, when extrapolated, results in a GREAT season, not a season in which the player loses prospect status.
It's a step in the right direction.
