Game Wrap 9/19/2019: Red Sox 5 Giants 4

Madison Bumgarner ran afoul of the BABIP gods and fell behind early.  A late rally by the Giants came up short.  Key Lines:

Mauricio Dubon SS 1 for 2, 2 BB.  BA= .275.  Nice game for Dubon who moved over to SS with Cristhian Adames taking 2B against the LHP.  Not sure I would have pinch-hit with Crawford in the 9'th even against the RHP Workman.

Mike Yastrzemski PH/LF- 1 for 2.  BA= .267.  Quite a series for YtY.  Amidst all the legacy hoopla, 4 for 13, 2B, HR, 2 BB.

Kevin Pillar CF- 1 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .261.  Pillar doubled in 2 runs in the 8'th and another with a bases-loaded walk in the 9'th.

Madison Bumgarner LHP- 5 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 3.86.  They say if you live by BABIP, you die by BABIP, but with 7 K's, Bummy wasn't tempting the BABIP gods.  They just didn't  like him today.  7 of the 9 hits came in the first two innings and produced all 5 Red Sox runs.  Maybe 1 of them was hit hard.

Gotta say, I like that the Giants battled back to a 1 run loss.  This team has maintained a fighting spirit in September, unlike the 2018 team.

Tyler Beede takes on the Braves and Mike Foltynewicz tomorrow evening in game 1 of a 3-game weekend set in Atlanta.

Joey Bart is off to a sizzling start in the Arizona Fall League.  After hitting 2 HR's last night, he backed that up with a 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB line through 8 innings tonight.

1 comment:

  1. Pumped about Bart.

He REALLY took off after they let go of their San Jose manager. That must have been a very strange situation over there...
