    1. Could be ..or Giants may give them a month or so in SJ.....OTOH, unless traded, I think almost the entire top notch bullpen---Jake Smith, Slania,Gardeck,Rogers and Black will start off in Richmond....

As for Angel V.been a tough haul but still young enough if it's a factor of conditioning and attitude..Hope these result spur him on

  2. How about that bullpen? And, what about Angel V? Maybe he will begin to take his baseball career seriously and spend the off-season getting into shape. Big time power is in short supply around baseball, and Angel has big time power.

  3. The ball game in Visalia last night was a see-saw affair, with the little Giants taking an early lead, the Rawhide closing the gap, the Giants getting 2-runs on Brian Ragira's homerun and the Rawhide storming back to tie it in the 8th. Dan Slania escaped with runners on the corners with no outs after the Rawhide tied the game. Slania struck out the first batter in the 8th, but the ball got away from Ty Ross, who promptly threw it over the head of Angel V, allowing the runner to get to 2nd. Jamie Westbrook then hit a double down the right field line to tie the score. I was sitting behind one of the little Giants executives and I overheard him say that Westbrook was the best player on the Rawhide. He could be in Arizona playing 2nd in a couple of years. With runners on the corners Slania got Gerson Montilla (who had earlier hit a long 2-run homerun) to pop out to deep short. Slania then struck out the next batter and got the 3rd out to escape the jamb. The homerun hit by Angel V in extra innings was controversial. I heard the Rawhide radio announcer say that it was foul. Oh well.

Coonrod was hitting 93 - 94 MPH in the first 4 innings. He hit 95 a time or two. His fastball tailed off to average 91-92 in the 5th and 6th innings. His off-speed stuff was in the mid 80s and he got a few swings and misses with it. Slania was averaging 92 MPH on his fastball with a curve at 74 and his other offspeed stuff in the low 80s.

Angel V is really going to have to go on a serious conditioning program if he is going to get in shape, as he looks pretty thick just about everywhere. APGiantsfan

  4. If anyone wants tickets to the game tonight, I bought two and can't use them, but don't want them going to waste.
