The Giants bullpen could not finish off a sparkling performance by Jake Peavy who started the game with 6 shutout innings. Key Lines:
Brandon Crawford- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .256. Crawford's 2'nd 2-hit game in a row after a 4 for 49 slump.
Jarrett Parker- 1 for 1, HR(2). BA= .316. This was Parker's second PH HR. This one went opposite field down the LF line.
Jake Peavy- 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 8/2. ERA= 3.83. The Giants have won something like 9 of Peavy's last 13 starts and he certainly pitched well enough for them to win this one. He has allowed just 3 ER in 19 IP over his last 3 starts with 14 K's and just 2 BB's. Whatever was ailing his back at the beginning of the season seems to be resolved giving more confidence that he can hold down a rotation spot next season.
Madison Bumgarner tries to win the rubber game of the 3 game series tonight.

Peavy still has nice movement on his pitches. He leaves it out there every start. He'll have minor injuries, next season.Guys who pitch as long as he has usually do.Very competitive.
ReplyDeleteGo Maddy! Chasing Krukow as the last 20 game winner (or was that Billy Swift & "Bowler" Burkett?). Regardless, let's get him 2 mpre wins and sweep the Fodgers in the process. I'd call that a nice consolation prize to defending the crown.

There's no more minors, but this came up today: "A week after being designated for assignment, center fielder Daniel Carbonell has cleared waivers and will report to the Sacramento River Cats."
