When I wrote the Game Wrap last night I forgot I wanted to mention that Mike Krukow was in fire on the TV broadcast.
Example 1: The camera focuses on a row of dudes dressed in shiny orange jumpsuits with orange hats associated with various trades. Sort of an orange Village People vibe. Krukow: "That's a Friday night attitude on a Monday night!" I literally LOL'd for about 30 seconds. I'm still laughing inside.
Example 2: Kruk and Kuip discussing a towering pop up that had a hang time of 7 seconds. Then Dave Kingman and his huge moonshots came up. Krukow said he played with Kingman with the Cubs: "He sometimes had 3 balls in the air at once!" Ha ha! Still smiling at that one too.
Just wanted to share that and marvel once again at the joy of having Kruk and Kuip still doing the TV broadcasts.
I can repost this after tomorow's write up if needed. Maybe it is bad juju to even start this conversation, but here goes. Question: Would you trade Heliot Ramos and 1-2 (whatever it takes) of the Giant pitching prospects for Luis Robert, Jr? He is a center fielder, but I assume he could play LF to take over for Heliot. You could even add another outfielder in the mix that is not Jung Ho Lee or Yaz. The White Sox are going nowhere and are the worst team in baseball. Looks like he is signed through 2027 if I am reading his contract right.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even trade Heliot straight up for Robert Jr. Talented player but he's been hurt a lot, had a terrible season last year and is off to an extremely slow start this season.

The question is do you want Robert Jr and his contract at all? His salary for this season is $15 M with club options for $20 M with a $2 M buyout for 2026 and 2027. If the Giants have that to spend I think there are better ways to allocate the money. So it's not so much I would not want to give up Matos but that I just don't want Robert Jr with his contract.
