Chanteyon Ajria "Bo" Davidson is another early NDFA success stories from the FZ era. He played college ball someplace called Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in North Carolina which is in Giants Director of Scouting, Michael Holmes, home territory. He's got size, speed and athleticism and a good looking swing that barrels up the ball. I saw him play in Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino last season and he was a revelation. Best looking player on the field for the SJ Giants. Another familiar pattern from the FZ era is a high BB rate coupled with a high K rate. He was able to carry over his strong performance into the AFL. I expect him to start 2025 in A+ ball and could see AA by the end of the season.

ReplyDeleteJust saw on MLBtraderumors that the Angels are looking for bullpen help. Maybe unrealistic maybe undesirable but definitely intriguing would be if the Giants shipped Doval and a Rodgers with a few prospects for Mike Trout. He could DH most of the time and play a little OF when feeling good. Last few years have been rough but it would certainly create some much needed buzz and potentially be huge.
ReplyDeleteMike Trout is 33 yo and has 6 years left on his contract at a AAV of $35.5 M. He has not played more than 119 games and 499 PA's in any season since 2019. He said at the end of last season he is open to moving to DH. What does that tell you about how he feels about his physical health? Does he have another good season or two in him? Maybe, but he's clearly well past the peak of his career.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your prospect posts Drb. I remember Giants GM Zach Miniasen when asked on a recent interview about undet the radar prospects to keep an eye on, he mentioned Bo Davidson and RHP Trent Harris who you just profiled. Makes them even more interesting to follow in 2025.
