Game Wrap 6/21/2022: Giants 12 Braves 10

Austin Wynns C had what is probably the best game of his career to spark the Giants offense on a night when they needed a lot of it.

Austin Wynns C- 3 for 4, 2B, HR(1).  BA= .320.  His 3-run HR in the second inning, the first non-solo HR for the Giants since something like June 7, was a big key to the game which turned into a see-saw slugging contest.  After going 5 for 12 in his first 4 games as a Giant, Wynns was 0 for 9 in his next 5 games until tonight.  He raised his BA from .238.  So it's hardly a trend but how he performs over the next month may determine whether the Giants need to make an aggressive trade for......say....Willson Contreras at the trade deadline or not.

Joc Pederson LF added a solo HR, his 15'th of the season.  Joc is currently the 3'rd leading vote-getter in All-Star OF voting.

Every member of the Giants lineup, starter or sub, who had a PA in the game reached base at least once. The only one to not have a hit was Luis Gonzalez RF/LF and he drew a walk and had a Sac Fly.

Brandon Crawford SS hurt his leg on an awkward slide into home plate(he scored).  Postgame report is a contusion and he is DTD.

This was obviously not a good game for most of the pitchers.  The key to the game on the pitching side for the Giants was 2 shutout innings from Tyler Rogers RHP.

Anthony DeSclafani RHP in his first start since coming off the IL had good velocity but was not effective giving up 5 runs on a pair of HR's.

Camilo Doval RHP had another rough appearance in a non-save situation allowing a 2-run HR to Matt Olson 1B in the 9'th.  He showed some rare emotion by throwing his glove but managed to get the final out without further damage.

Carlos Rodon LHP tries to clinch at least a split tomorrow evening facing Charlie Morton RHP.
