AA  Trenton Thunder rolled over the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-2:

Jerry Sands 1B- 1 for 3, HR(1), HBP.  BA= .111.
Dylan Davis DH- 1 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .273.
Dan Slania RHP- 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.   ERA= 2.45.
Dillon Tate RHP(Thunder)- 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 1.50.

Davis has been the Squirrels best hitter so far after a disastrous season last year.
Tate has had his ups and downs since being drafted in the first round by the Rangers in 2015.  He was strong in his first start of the season.

A+  San Jose Giants blanked the Inland Empire 66'ers 5-0:

Jacob Heyward DH- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .500.
Conner Menez LHP- 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Dylan Rheault RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Rodolfo Martinez RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Dominant 5 innings from Conner Menez in his second gig with SJ.
Any readers attend this game to give observations and thoughts?

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets smothered the Columbia Fireflies 6-2:

Malique Ziegler RF- 2 for 5, 2B, SB(1).  BA= .400.
Heliot Ramos CF- 1 for 4, 3B.  BA= .154.
Orlando Garcia 2B- 1 for 4, 3B.  BA= .400.
Jacob Gonzalez 3B- 1 for 4, 2B.  BA= .273.
Jeffry Parra C- 1 for 2, 2 BB.  BA= .400.
John Gavin LHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Ramos is just 2 for 13, but that includes a big 0 for 5 in Game 1.  His 2 hits are a double and triple.  Orlando Garcia should excel at this level and is doing it so far.  Nice start for Jeffry Parra who I think is a sleeper catcher prospect.  Dominant 4 innings from Gavin.  Is this his first pro start?

  1. I was planning on attending the SJ game, but decided not to because I wasn’t eager to see Menez. Guess that was a bad call.

  2. It does appear to be Gavin's first pro start. He had 12 relief appearances last season, no starts recorded. He pitched really well last season, nice to see him do well in his first start.
