Blogger's Note: 3 Million Views!

On December 20, 2009, I started my own blog after posting comments on other blogs for several years.  I was tired of being ridiculed for daring to think Brian Sabean just might have the Giants on the right track and wanted a place I could post my own thoughts.  I was way past caring if anyone else read them or not.  I just needed an outlet to say what I wanted to say.  It is now 2960 days since that first post, which I would invite everyone who visits this site to go back and read.  It's linked to the left in the Blog Archive section.  A few minutes ago, someone made the 3 millionth visit to the blog since that first post.  You do the math.  That's just a bit over 1000 visits per day for the life of the blog.

I just want to thank everybody who visits and comments.  It continues to be a labor of love.  I don't do it for the pay, of which I get none, or the number of visits, but continue to be gratified and amazed that so many people make this site a daily visit, sometimes more.  I will continue to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball, until I stop.  I don't know when that will be, but not in the forseeable future.

  5. I too am a later member to the party but I have also posted with a couple of names. Truth be told, my only problem has been logging in which I believe is my issue and I've been working on sorting that out. More to the point, Love the site and humbly appreciate your work. It is really great stuff. One of my main takeaways is your blog reminds me how massively difficult it is to become a major leaguer. So many "can't miss" prospects that do in fact miss. Quite sobering.

  7. Just wanted to hop on and say it's been a great ride over the last 8 years, I think I've been visiting since right around the beginning and what a wonderful beginning it was. Bumgarner, picking Gerald Posey #5 (I remember wondering for a moment whether Gerald Posey was a different player than "Buster", since I'd been epically hoping for him to fall to us after Beckham et al!).

This site has provided outstanding content through those years, particularly with the Giants raising all of those banners over the heads of teams which they built largely with the Young Minor Leaguers we'd all come to love and followed through their entire careers to date. Not only Tim Lincecum (my favorite period of prospecting EVER), but Matt Duffy, Brian Wilson, Brandon Belt (dropped stock), and of course Joe Panik - but even down to some players who I think we all really liked but couldn't quite make it: Scott Munter, Eric Threets, that CFer with the last name of Murray, John Bowker and Nate Schierholtz! That big guy Thomas who raked it and hit like 30 bombs in A+, but couldn't push past AA and got traded.. Looking back, I think at least a few of those guys were before the time of this blog, but I remember prospecting them and following your posts back when they WERE on the SFG Forums, in that one prospect thread. That was fun there, and this site has been great because it's eliminated the BS chump talking, and just gets down to the good stuff.

So, here's to some great years for the Giants, and it's definitely been a pleasure to follow along with your commentary the whole way.
    Thanks Doc!

  8. All I can say is, living in the concrete blue tainted hell that is Los Angeles, you are my life line. Great to have a place where people who know baseball and follow it in depth to the minors can hang out. Thanks a bunch.

    1. PiLam - I'm in LA these days, too, finishing off a PhD at UCLA. It's a helluva place to be, specially since I arrived in 2010 and celebrated each one of the Chips here in the city of Blue blood. I've had to make friends with LA fans and celebrate them for their great young core.

I'll never root for them, but I can give credit where credit is due.. Until we raise another flag over their heads, that is! LOL

  9. Way to go! I still have no idea how you are able to consistently post the way you do, without losing your passion. It's very impressive DrB! Keep up the great work.

    1. Yeah, I wonder the same thing sometimes during the doldrums of years such as 2017. Almost all of our prospects stumbled in 2017, it was crazy!!

  10. I'd certainly miss you if you weren't here. I'm 67 and also was a big fan of Jim Ray Hart starting when I became a Giants' fan in 1966 (Though Marichal was my favorite player then). Keep up the great work. Much appreciated. KezarMike

  11. I think I've said it before, but your top prospects list is as big a sign as any to me that it's a new year.

Here's to 30 million views and a few more championships!
