Down on the Farm: 7/5/2017

AAA  Sacramento River Cats cooled off the Albuquerque Isotopes 6-1:

Juan Ciriaco 3B- 3 for 5, HR(4).  BA= .273.
Ryan Lollis 1B- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .167.
Juniel Querecuto SS- 3 for 4.  BA= .238.
Roberto Gomez RHP- 6 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 5.92.
DJ Snelton LHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.13.
Derek Law RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 6.75.

-Between promotions and injuries, Sacramento has become a true AAA Team
-Ciriaco is 33 yo and has been in the Giants organization forever.  Gotta think there is a coaching job waiting for him when his playing days are over.
-Ditto Ryan Lollis who is 30 yo.
-Snelton seems to have potential for a lefty long-relief role.
-Law finally pitches a scoreless frame.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels vs Erie Seawolves postponed.

High A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes destroyed the San Jose Giants 14-1:

Gio Brusa LF- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .248.
Ryan Howard SS- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .321.
Madison Bumgarner LHP- 4 IP, 9 H, 9 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 20.25.

-Hmmm.... I guess it's good that Bummy went 4 innings and the K's/BB's look good but when he's facing single A batters, you'd like to see a few goose eggs on the board.

  1. Rookie CF Bryce Johnson has had a hit in every game so far in the SKL. That's a promising first sign. MadBum giving up 9 hits including 4 HRs, 1 3B, and a 2B in 4 innings to A level hitters is crazy. I wonder if he was just working on a certain pitch or just his mechanics are still rusty so his location is off?

    1. Also wonder if MadBum was just trying to get to a certain pitch count and build arm strength.

  2. I read that a batter hit two home runs off Bumgarner. In the same inning. Ouch. Really appreciate these reports.

  3. Nice to see Law put up a decent line. Hopefully whatever has been going on is fixable and he'll get back to at least 2016.

  4. This is Spring Training II for Bumgarner, read his results like it's February.
Not so great for SJ's W-L, but that'snot what's important here.
Bum was happy with the results.
Although, his judgement is a little clouded by his dirt bike riding decision.
