Game Wrap 9/19/2015: D'Backs 6 Giants 0

The D'Backs jumped out to an early lead against Giants starter Mike Leake and the offense never got untracked against Patrick Corbin.  Key Lines:

Mike Leake- 3 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 0 K's.  ERA= 3.81.  Gotta wonder why Leake came out after not allowing a run in the 3'rd inning.  Whether it's end-of-season fatigue or if he's never completely recovered from the hammy, he he has not been himself over the last 3 starts.

Trevor Brown- 0 for 3.  BA= .000.  Another interesting development.  With Belt out with concussion symptoms, the plan is for Posey to play almost exclusively 1B with Brown getting the lion's share of the catching rather than Jackson Williams.  From a statistical standpoint, I like Ben Turner's bat better than Brown's, but maybe the Giants see a better defensive catcher in Brown.  Bochy mentioned his agility and athleticism in his comments.

Tim Hudson tries to salvage a game out of the series today.

This season is over!

  1. They said Leake has had some tightness in his arm which has been bothering was part of the reason on top of the fact he was getting hit hard.

I am not sure what to make of Brown. His bat hasn't ever seemed to play well and I am not sure I see a fit for him on this club long term. You got Susac, Sanchez and Garcia all ahead of him at least and while he may be versatile, that seems like a luxury, especially since the Giants have several true infielders that can play multiple positions.

Yep, Giants are done, I would just try to get out of the season with no more injuries. I can't remember a year like this, especially with the concussions.

    1. Sanchez continues to get beat up behind the plate. Susac's wrist problem does not sound like it's a given to be healed by next year. Garcia is at least a year or two away. I think it's wise for the Giants to be looking at fallback catcher options for next season.

    2. If, if, if... Susac isn't healed or he's traded... Sanchez can no longer catch... Quiroz isn't brought back... Brown doesn't seem ready, Turner isn't considered an option yet, don't think they'd give the back-up role to Williams...

Somehow, the only FA I see us maybe able to get is Iannetta. Some of the others will want to start full-time. Others maybe not even "serviceable." Or, we trade for somebody, no clue who (Hanigan?). Iannetta? Or would we "sign-and-activate" Whiteside? Huh.
