Game Wrap 6/12/2019: Giants 4 Padres 2

Shaun Anderson pitched another Quality Start and was aided by some wild throws by the Padres defense as the Giants swept the 2 game series from a team that's been tough on them.  Key Lines:

Donovan Solano 2B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .270.  Expect to see more of Solano, at least against LHP's after this game.

Kevin Pillar RF- 1 for 4, HR(7).  BA= .214.   Pillar also made a very difficult catch at the RF wall early in the game.  He definitely has a nose for memorable plays and hits, but has not business as a starting OF on a good team.  Not sure if he has any deadline trade value.

Steven Duggar CF- 2 for 3.  BA= .241.  One of his hits was a cue shot dribbler that got him to 2B on a wild throw.  Hey!  He'll take it.  His two hits led to 2 runs on Solano's RBI's.

Shaun Anderson RHP- 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 6 K's, GO/AO= 9/1.  ERA= 3.97.  OK, this is the big news of this game!  What a horse!  BTW, have I ever said Shaun Anderson is a horse before?  He got into trouble in the first inning(when else?) but calmly got a GIDP out of Franmil Reyes to get out of it then my goodness!  Talk about pounding the strike zone with K's and GO's!  Love it!  Definitely something to build on here.

The Giants get another day off at home before the BrewCrew comes to town with Drew Pomeranz facing RHP Zach Davies on Friday night.

  1. Giants are 7-5 since their las losing streak, 6-4 in their last 10!
    Buckle up!
Here comes 20 straight games beginning with Milwaukee (3) and the Doogers (4) then 13 straight with the rest of the NL West until the 4th of July -- an unusual off day!
3 more at hoe with StL before the All Star break -- who will be left on July 12th to go to Milwaukee?

  2. Question. What happens if they go 15-5 in their next 20 games? They nicely handled the much ballyhooed Padres in this series and the Dodgers games could have all gone either way. 15-5 equals 500. Not counting on it. But am not giving up on 2019 quite yet.
