I don't have any thoughts on Day 3 of the Draft.  I Don't recognize any of the names on the Giants draft list from pick eleven on.  I'll try to post some capsule scouting reports on all of them but probably won't get to it until the weekend.  I appreciate everybody's interest in the draft and my thoughts on it.

  1. Nice to see Shaw starting to roll in AAA. If he keeps this up for about a week, I wouldn't be shocked to see him on the big club soon.

  2. Pater Maris (Rule 5 guy) putting nice season together. Anyone have thoughts on this player?

  4. When the Giants decided to prolong a winner with their very strong core, beginning in 2011 they tried to fill holes with veterans costing them some good prospects.

It almost worked in 2016 but the biggest hole was neglected, and SF fell short in the LDS without a closer thanks to Bumgarner's complete game win in the WC.

Arguably with a little luck, the Giants might have made the playoffs last year -- they were .500 on September 1 having won 5 of 6 (including beating Wheeler August 31st).

As the core aged, the wheels came off and here we are, according to Sporting News:
"Among last-place teams, three stand out as particularly unprepared to contend anytime soon: Baltimore, San Francisco and Miami."

A bit unfairly, they go on to say:
"Joey Bart is the only source of hope. The catcher, selected No. 2 overall in the 2018 draft, seems destined for stardom, hitting at an elite level in the minor leagues so far and fielding well behind the plate. Beyond him, a system neglected for years offers little upside."

They do mention Heliot Ramos positively before concluding:
"With Farhan Zaidi in charge of making deals, the Giants are at least in capable hands."

LOL -- don't we ALL hope that is true!
He surely put His stamp on the 2019 draft.

    It's makes for dreary reading:

    1. Team needs a new, younger infield - i am prepared for three more years of losing.
