AA  Harrisburg Senators defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-2:

Jalen Miller 2B- 2 for 4, 2B, SB(18).  BA= .230.

Miller keeps plucking along in a tough environment.

A+  Stockton Ports edged out the San Jose Giants 4-3:

Heliot Ramos CF- 1 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .315.
Courtney Hawkins LF- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .243.
Sean Hjelle RHP- 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K's, GO/AO= 8/1.  ERA= 2.74.
Garrett Cave RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 5.01.

Sean Hjelle is dominating the Cal League with very similar numbers as he put up in Augusta.  Augusta:  1-2, 2.66, 40.2 IP, 9 BB, 44 K, GO/AO= 2.17.  SJ:  1-2, 2.74, 23 IP, 5 BB, 20 K, GO/AO= 4.75!  Toonder from the sky!  The GB rate is stupendous! Will that play against the launch angle batters in the majors?  Heliot Ramos continues to conquer the Cal League.

  1. Doc, I feel smart as I was saying the same thing - that Smith might bring as much, if not more, than MadBum. Which, in this crazy baseball world, might mean MadBum does not get moved while other players are traded? Looking at the standings, I'm wondering how many teams are really going to try to ensure making the playoffs or make a serious run at a wild card berth. Then again, it only takes one team for a trade...

  2. 6th round, high schooler SS Dilan Rosario, signs >2x overslot deal. Giants obviously like him a lot. Arm, speed, raw power, young: still not quite 18.
