Wilmer Flores 2B and Thairo Estrada SS provided the offense with home runs and 6 bullpen pitchers held the Cubs lineup in check for a series win and a happy flight home.
Estrada(.259) had an RBI single in the 4'th inning and a solo HR(13) in the 7'th. He added his 18'th SB.
Flores(.235) hit his 18'th HR to drive in two insurance runs in the 8'th inning After the game, it was reported Flores and the Giants reached an agreement on a contract extension for 2 years plus in option for 2025 which will make him a Forever Giant.
Camilo Doval RHP had some trouble controlling his FB but got the 4-out Save(22).

The Giants don't get a breather after the road trip and start a series against the defending World Series Champion Braves tonight with Alex Cobb RHP facing breakout RHP Scott Strider.
Kruk was on KNBR this morning saying that the Giants flight last night didn’t land until around 4:30am, so they may be MORE tired than we already expected them to be. Not fun to arrive late and then face the probable NL RotY, Spencer Strider, who throws very hard.
ReplyDeleteGood move signing Wilmer Flores . He is a solid MLB veteran who plays multiple positions and provides steady production at the plate, 18 homers the past 2 years. It protects them from the uncertainty with Belt and Longoria for 2023.
ReplyDeleteThat's awful. I hope they have a little more room on team flights to spread out/recline to sleep. I cannot sleep on a commercial flight to save my life. Just awful!
