Sean Roby 1B- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(25).  BA= .220.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds defeated the Everett Aquasox 6-2.

Carson Seymour RHP- 6.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 13 K.  ERA= 3.70.

Seymour looks like he might be the steal of the Darin Ruf trade.  He has 130 K in 106 IP across 3 teams.  He is a 2021 draftee so has 2 more seasons before Rule 5 eligibility.

  1. Steele Walker has at least 2 things going for him: a great name and 1 Major League Homerun.
He was a high 2nd round pick exactly after the Giants picked Hjelle. Now SF has them both.
Walker was traded for Nomar Mazara who had a pretty good early career: in the latter's first 4 seasons he hit, in order, 20, 20, 20, & 19 HR's, 79 by the time he was 24. After the trade, he's hit 6 in 3 years. Go figure. Leaving Texas didn't work out so well.
For the Giants, Walker's yet another LH batting outfielder to add to the glut -- if he figures out how to hit like he did in Oklahoma.

  2. Sean Roby has learned how to hit HRs. Wioth a vengence!
His 25th HR yesterday added to his single-season Richmond franchise record and tied him with Frankie Tostado for the fifth-most career home runs with the Flying Squirrels.
OTOH, he is Rule 5 Eligible. Will he be protected? He was hurt as much as anyone by the pandemic.

  3. Anyone know if Vaun Brown got injured the other day in his AA debut? He hasn't appeared in a game since.

  4. FZ said on a podcast that Brown is working thru a knee issue. What I found amusing was that Bruce Bochy was blown away watching Brown play, and he compared the energy that Brown plays with to Hunter Pence!

  5. Bummer Vaun Brown was put on the 7 day IL. Hope he gets healthy enough to come back this season.
