Down on the Farm: 8/30/2018

AAA  Albuquerque Isotopes outscored the Sacramento River Cats 10-8:

Peter Bourjos CF- 3 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .302.
Kelby Tomlinson SS- 4 for 5.  BA= .305.
Chris Shaw LF- 1 for 5, 2B.  BA= .259.
Miguel Gomez 2B- 2 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .273.
Ryder Jones PH/3B- 1 for 3, 3B.  BA= .273.
Shaun Anderson RHP- 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.18.
Ray Black RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.16.

Who replaces Cutch on the 25 man active roster?

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels vs Reading Fightin' Phils suspended after 3 innings due to rain with the Phils leading 1-0.

A+  Stockton Ports beat the San Jose Giants 11-5:

Jacob Heyward LF- 2 for 5, HR(12).  BA= .259.
Heath Quinn DH- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .299.
Gio Brusa 1B- 1 for 2, 2B, BB, SF, HBP.  BA= .238.
Sandro Fabian RF- 1 for 3, HR(10), BB.  BA= .203.

Double digit dingers is an accomplishment for Sandro Fabian. He should probably repeat San Jose before taking on the big bad EL.  Jacob Heyward may be ready for the EL after a strong August.

Low A  Lexington Legend blanked the Augusta Greenjackets 7-0:

Ryan Kirby 1B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .234.
Tyler Schimpf RHP- 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 5.45.

Short Season   Salem-Keizer Volcanoes buried the Eugene Emeralds 15-5:

Kyle McPherson 2B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .308.
Diego Rincones LF- 4 for 5, 2B.  BA= .317.
Joey Bart C- 1 for 4, HR(12), BB.  BA= .304.
David Villar 3B- 3 for 5, HR(12).  BA= .277.
Wander Franco 1B- 2 for 4, 3B.  BA= .299.
Aaron Bond CF- 1 for 3, HR(11), BB, SB(8).  BA= .271
Nick Hill RF- 1 for 5, 3B.  BA= .243.
Ricardo Genoves DH- 2 for 5.  BA= .235.
Nico Giarratano SS- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .274.

Can't wait to see Joey Bart and David Villar in San Jose next season.  Diego Rincones should be headed to Augusta.  Ricardo Genoves is hitting .317 in August.

  1. Everyone has been clamouring for Shaw. Now it looks like they’ll get him. I’m guessing Black and Kelly go up as well, and that’s probably it. They have too many infielders for Tomlinson to go despite the fact he’s back over .300 and appears to have another hit streak going. Hanson and d'Arnaud have cooled off (Hansen .188 and d'Arnaud .214 last 15 games).

One guy that’s been impressive in Sac is Stacci. It will be interesting to see what becomes of him, if anything.

  2. McCutchen: I'd like to see Shaw called up. Probably won't happen. But I'd like to see it.

  3. With roster expansion tomorrow, and the salary cap relief from the McCutchen trade, there should be about 6 call ups.

  4. BTW, I really like the two new prospects. I think we have enough dead-wood on the roster to move the SS to the 40-man and the young pitcher is playing well even though he's just at low-A at this point.

  5. tyler rogers should be a september call-up. osich could end up getting dfa'd or duggar moves to the 60-day dl to make room for rogers.

    1. I agree, this is a perfect time to find out if Tyler Rogers' stuff can get MLB hitters out.

    1. I'm surprised, Peter Bourjos is more the SF profile!

    2. I am not persuaded that Chris Shaw is ready for MLB either at the plate or in the field, but no harm in bringing him up and letting the MLB coaching staff get a look and let him see firsthand what he needs to work on.

He's the type of player who could hit a flurry of dingers out of the gate.

  7. I am looking forward to the day when Juan de Paula, Wander Franco the Elder and Wander Franco the Younger are all in the SF lineup.

    2. I wander if there are....

  8. Ryder Jones will come up, too, won't he?
Or is he going to be a 23-yo casualty because he didn't hit a ton last year. Or this.

    1. i think jones will be up, belt may be traded this offseason and jones could be an option to split reps with posey at first next season.

    2. Jones will not be replacing Belt. He has had one ok season in the minors. He was never really a prospect.
