AAA Omaha Stormchasers outhit the Fresno Grizzlies 10-7:
Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 5, 2 2B. BA= .267.
Adam Duvall(3B)- 1 for 5, HR(21), E(13, throw). BA= .294.
Darren Ford(RF)- 3 for 4, SB(10). BA= .306.
Mike Kickham(LHP)- 1.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.16.
Dan Runzler(LHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.15.
Duvall is tearing up the PCL, but this was his 13'th error in 59 games. Just for comparison, Pablo Sandoval has made just 7 in 67 games at the MLB level.
AA Richmond Flying Squirrels shut out the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2-0:
Devin Harris(DH)- 1 for 3, HR(6). BA= .270.
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 5.61.
Hunter Strickland(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.70.
Cody Hall(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(5). ERA= 3.30.
This was statistically Mejia's best start of the season so far.
High A San Jose Giants were idle.
Low A Augusta Greenjackets defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 4-2:
John Polonius(SS)- 2 for 4. BA= .255.
Chase Johnson(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, GO/AO= 6/1. ERA= 5.21.
Luis Ysla(LHP)- 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.41.
Joan Gregorio(RHP)- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 0.00.
Coming up on the SAL All-Star Break, the Greenjackets used 3 SP's for 3 innings each. Ysla had the best statistical line despite being the only one to allow runs. Polonius is hitting .455 over his last 10 games.
Short Season Vancouver Canadians downed the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 6-1:
Shilo McCall(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .250.
Cameron McVey(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. ERA= 0.00.
The Volcanoes were swept and swept badly by the Canadians. Either the Canadians are really good or the Volcanoes are really weak. A couple of new names appeared in the S-K lineup: Johnshwy Fargas and Jonathan Jones. Surprised to see Jones at 2B as he has been strictly a 1B up to this point in his professional career.
DSL Giants were idle as usual on Sunday.

Not sure about Kickham's situation...is he hurt? Maybe 4.16 ERA is not too bad for the PCL, but we could use better showings than the one yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAre McVey and Gregorio on rehab assignments? I thought they were at higher levels already.
I could be wrong, but McVey is just beginning his season in S/K. I don't think he pitched in Augusta this year. You might be thinking of Mason McVay, who is up in SJ. This is Cam McVey, in short-season ball. I believe Gregorio was sent to Augusta to rehab, but I never saw it confirmed. He was out for so long, that seems to be a reasonable conclusion... I don't see why the organization would demote him in a situation like this.
DeleteThanks, Covechatter. I got McVay and McVey mixed up.
DeleteKind of exciting news that the Giants signed a Cuban prospect: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/06/giants-sign-daniel-carbonell.html
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to following his play later this summer.
Alan
Check out a great rundown on Carbonell including pretty much all the pertinent links at Shankbone's site, You Gotta Like These Kids linked over to the left.
DeleteI remember looking at Polonius in the box score and with that BA he had then, I was thinking he should learn to throw newspapers. He was worse than bad. Something clicked very fast.
ReplyDeleteRead/Saw the scouting report on Cabonell. Guy must have been Puig's caddie with the little amount of money the Giants gave him. My concern is somewhere along this trail, the Cuban well is going to go dry and all that is left is more sand...

Does anyone want to mention June Swoon again??? Don't mess with the baseball gods....

I hope Beede is not showing his best pitching talents... TBox
DeleteMaybe the Giants were just lying in the weeds waiting for a great deal to come along or maybe they are just scraping the bottom of the barrel. Only time will tell. The dude sure is athletic as heck, though.
