Down on the Farm: 6/3/2026

AAA:  Tacoma Rainiers beat the Sacramento River Cats 5-1.

Nate Furman 2B- 2 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .286.
Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson LHP= 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 13.50.
Braxton Roxby RHP- 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 5.23.
Jason Foley RHP- 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 2.08.
Michael Fulmer RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 3.91.

Rough introduction to the PCL for Tugboat.  Someone asked which River Cats prospects were particularly notable.  This wasn't a great game for scouting hitting prospects but I would pay attention to Drew Cavanaugh, Scott Bandura and Aeverson Arteaga on the hitting side.  Wilkinson and Carson Whisenhunt on the pitching side.

AA:  Erie Seawolves defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-2.

Bo Davidson CF- 2 for 4.  BA= .257.
Charlie Szykowny 1B- 2 for 4.  BA= .276.
Ty Hanchey C- 2 for 4.  BA= .349.
Diego Velasquez 2B- 2 for 4.  BA= .267.
Cesar Perdomo LHP- 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 3.86.
Manuel Mercedes RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 7.78.

Over his last 3 starts, Perdomo has an ERA of 2.29 with 21 K's and 3 BB's in 15.2 IP.

A+:  Everett Aquasox topped the Eugene Emeralds 5-3.

Trevor Cohen CF- 2 for 5, SB(17).  BA= .280.
Jhonny Level 2B- 2 for 4, SB(1).  BA= .444.
Carlos Gutierrez LF- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .256.
Esmerlin Vinicio LHP- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 0.35.

A:  San Jose Giants blasted the Inland Empire 66'ers 10-3.

Isaiah Barkett 2B- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .346.
Damian Bravo LF- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .281.
Hayden Jatczak 1B- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .317.
Dario Reynoso 3B- 2 for 4, HR(9).  BA= .306.
Broedy Poppell RF- 2 for 4.  BA= .243.
Fernando Gonzalez C- 2 for 4.  BA= .273.
Andy Polanco CF- 1 for 3, BB.  BA= .275.
Jordan Gottesman LHP- 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.45.
Alix Hernandez RHP- 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.80.

Since his ERA hit a peak of 6.39 on May 5, Alix Hernandez has an ERA of 0.82 in 11 IP, with 13 K's and 6 BB's.  4 of Gottesman's last 5 starts have been scoreless.  He pitched 10 scoreless frames over his last two starts.

The Giants ACL and DSL teams were all idle.

  1. i told a friend that Tugboat would be starting for Richmond the other day and then i noticed he was replaced as SP. i immediately assumed he was hurt. did not know he had been moved up to AAA. hope this start was just a case of nerves and travel fatigue, etc. -es

  2. Arteaga and Bandura are guys who I think will eventually play in the majors briefly but poorly as a fringe player that bounces around the minors/majors and never finds MLB success. Whisenhunt and Tugboat are for sure two guys to watch. Cavanaugh is very intriguing. It’s hard to take him seriously because of how late he was drafted in the draft but there’s no denying that he’s been impressive in our minor league system in his short time here. Definitely rooting for him to be legit but I just have my doubts because of draft stock and also because of how many players I’ve seen do great in the minors but not be good enough to be a major leaguer

  3. Thanks, Doc -- we're in Sacramento for two games, so we'll keep our eyes out for Cavanaugh, Bandura, Arteaga, Wilkinson and Whisenhunt.
