Robbie Ray pitched 6.1 shut out innings in a Quality Start, except it was in relief due to the game suspension from 6/16 as the Giants took a 3-2 lead after 1.5 innings and turned it into an easy win. Key Lines:
Luis Arraez 2B- 3 for 5, 2B, 2 R. BA= .324. Arraez batted leadoff. I would think either he or Jung Hoo Lee should always lead off. He doesn't walk much but the BA is high enough to keep his OBP in leadoff-worthy territory.
Bryce Eldridge DH- 2 for 4, BB, RBI. BA= .324. Eldridge batted second which is a nice spot for him, at least against RHP's. He sees a lot of pitches and can pull the ball behind base runners.
Rafael Devers 1B- 1 for 4, HR(10), BB, R, RBI. BA= .235. Maybe Devers knew we were talking about him?
Jung Hoo Lee RF- 1 for 3, HR(4), SF, R, 2 RBI. BA= .331. I haven't see his name in the flurry of trade rumors. He has an opt-out after next season but if he opts in, it only adds 2 seasons. If he keeps hitting like this, he will almost certainly opt out.
Willy Adames SS- 1 for 4, HR(12), R, RBI. BA= .229. Another guy who maybe heard us talking about him. If Adames has a big second half, it's not hard to see him hitting 30 HR's again. His big problem this season is his walk rate is way down, which may be due to an organizational philosophy change, but without a compensatory drop in K rate.
Casey Schmitt LF- 2 for 4, SB(7), R. BA= .280. This was Casey's third 2-hit game in a row. Somewhat surprisingly he leads the team in SB's.
Robbie Ray LHP- 6.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 4.07. Although Ray was the first pitcher to take the mound yesterday, he was technically pitching in relief of Adrian Houser who gave up 2 runs in the first inning.....on 6/16. Had the game not been suspended, Houser probably would have stayed in, possibly with a far different game outcome. Hey! Maybe an Opener is what Ray has needed all along?!
