Logan Webb ramping up to 5.1 IP and Keaton Winn making his first in-game appearance of the spring were the biggest stories of a fairly uneventful game. Key Lines:
Logan Webb RHP- 5.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 9.00. Again, all we are looking from from Webb in the spring is ramping up workload and staying healthy. The K/BB sure looks good, though!
Keaton Winn RHP- 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.40. First appearance of the spring after experiencing R elbow soreness before games started. 3 K's in 1.2 IP looks good to me. Don't rush it!
Wilmer Flores 1B had 2 hits including a double. 6 other players had one hit each with Tom Murphy C and Thairo Estrada 2B recording doubles.
Kyle Harrison LHP gets the start tomorrow evening against the Reds and Frankie Montas RHP.
Webb gets his spring ERA down to an even 1-per-inning, heading in right direction!
ReplyDeleteIf we are to worry about Webb, "Houston, we have a problem!"
DeleteLooks like Renel Brooks-Moon is out. Another L for the Greg Johnson Era.

Less than 10 game days until 30 teams open their seasons, and there are still at least 5 significant players unsigned.
ReplyDeleteSorry, folks, this is not good for MLB: 4 of the 5 are SPs who all could be difference makers to varying extents, but none of them will be ready for opening day.
Does this increase their value?
Every 4 days reduces the number of starts for them by about 1, and, already all of them are -1 start this year. Maybe -2.
Numero Uno is likely 2 or 3 starts behind. Snell is not a quick get-ready-guy.
This is not good for the players nor for Baseball. The house is in disorder.
Is there a solution?
Unlikely without some agreement between the Owners and the Players.
Baseball is dysfunctional: all the other major sports have solved this but what was once the National Pastime is becoming an afterthought.
If you tune in the Giants Flagship radio, KNBR, you are far more likely to hear about the NFL (who haven't played of a couple of months or in the next couple of months) or the NBA who doesn't have a competent competitor within 500 miles.
MLB/MLBPA: help us fans — get your freakin' house into order!
Well..it's SNELL time.! Didn't think FZ had it in him...Don't even mind the unlikley opt out after the 2024 season with young pitchers and rehabbing pitchers being more ready and able.If he stays, even better.. Great move by FZ.. Yeah, I said that..let's HARRIOSDN be number 3..I LOVE that.
ReplyDelete"The Giants have secured another big-ticket free agent, agreeing to a deal with reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The deal, which was first reported by MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, is expected to be for two years and worth $62 million and includes an opt-out after 2024. The club has not confirmed the move."

It’s crow eating time and I’m ready for all you can eat! This entire offseason was about to be all for naught and Farhan ends up pulling about the biggest rabbit out if his hat possible. It was discussed for months about how this was the move that was needed to complete the transformation and I have to give the guy credit, you pulled it off Farhan!! Better to Snell you later than never at all!!!
ReplyDeleteWhodathunk!
ReplyDeleteLet this be a lesson for those who doubt, Rome held off the Vandals for Centuries, FZ had a plan but he made it come to him.
ReplyDeleteWade, Snell, Harrison, Hicks, and Whocares!
ReplyDeleteFill it until Cobb shows up...I mean, conservatively at this point...mid-May?
DeleteWas just going to say, "Well, the price seems about right now..."
ReplyDeleteWould it be greedy to ask for a Pete Alonso trade before the deadline?
