DrB's 2020 Giants Top 50 Prospects: #44 Prelander Berroa

Prelander Berroa RHP.  DOB:  4/18/2000.  5'11", 170 lbs.

Rookie(Twins):  2-1, 4.55, 31.2 IP, 10.52 K/9, 4.55 BB/9.
Short Season(Giants):  0-1, 9.56, 16 IP, 6.19 K/9, 5.06 BB/9.

Prelander Berroa was acquired from the Twins in the Sam Dyson trade.  He's a small bodied pitcher but sports an easy FB that sits in the mid-90's and gets up to 98 MPH.  He has a couple of secondary pitches which are inconsistent to say the least.  It's not apparent why he is wild from videos as his motion is pretty simple and easy.  He produces the velocity with loose, whipped arm action without a lot of obvious effort.

Berroa needs to find his command and 2020 will be a pivotal season as he become Rule 5 eligible after the season at age 20, long before most college players are even drafted.  Grrr.......
